The usage of secondary products of spice industry in pig nutrition

Three different by-products of the spice industry were used as feed additives for piglets in order to evaluate their effect on the growth of piglets. The additives involved different types of by-products from allspice, coriander and cumin and were added into the feed mixtures at the level of 0.5 %. The experiment was conducted on 152 animals during 28 days after weaning at 21 days of age and after 7 days of preparation period. Growth intensity was improved in the group supplemented with coriander spent by 10 % and in the group supplemented with allspice spent by 4 %. The experimental treatments influenced also the daily feed intake.
