The evaluation of vitamin C content in fruits of vegetable pepper and tomato

Concentrations of vitamin C were determined in sixteen varieties of vegetable pepper and twenty-eight varieties of tomato during the years 2005, 2006 and 2007. Both variety and year had significant effects on vitamin C concentration. The average vitamin C concentrations in peppers in the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 were 1,813.06 mg/kg, 1,909.43 mg/kg and 2,392.49 mg/kg, respectively, in tomatoes, it was 317.63 mg/kg, 345.09 mg/kg and 316.14 mg/kg, respectively.
