The analysis of total sesquiterpenic acids content was performed by HPLC, using the external standard method (with dantrone, as a standard substance, according to the Ph Eur 5 monograph). The content of total sesquiterpenic acids in tested dry valerian root extracts was found to be stable with no decreasing of sesquiterpenic acid amounts.
