Economic analysis of management patterns of small ruminants (sheep and goat farms) in district Hyderabad

The overall sample size used in this study included 69 small ruminant producers/ farmers, 7 wholesalers, 22 middlemen and 24 final sellers selected at random from Hyderabad, Latifabad and Qasimabad areas of the district. Three main market areas of the district were examined which included Hyderabad, Latifabad and Qasimabad. The educational level of the respondents the indicated that only 20.49 percent of the 122 respondents could reach up to matriculation level, 1.64 percent of the middlemen and final sellers could enter college for intermediate level education. Among small ruminant producers/farmers, 75.36 %, wholesalers 85.71 %, middleman 90.90 % and among final sellers 79.17% of the respondents were married. Analysis of farm structures showed (73.91%) were found managing their small ruminants in semi pacca structures, 21.74 in ordinary fence or hedges and only 4.34 percent had pacca structures.
