Herbal remedies for urinary tract infection

A urinary tract infections (UTIs) are characterized by a strong and sudden urge to urinate, followed by a slow and painful release of very little urine. Antibiotics are used for the treatment of all UTls. However, the use of antibiotics can have side effects and if not checked in time can lead to further complications. Moreover, the emergence of antibiotic resistant bacterial strains is of major concern for physicians. During last decade the prevalence of multi-drug resistant bacteria has dramatically increased worldwide due to misuse of antibiotics. As an alternative medicine, there are quite a few herbal remedies that prove very effective in preventing and treating UTIs. The present review focuses on the herbal remedies for the treatment of UTls.
