Extensive, descriptive hematological and nutritional data are presented for clinicians and researchers, by sex, race, age, and poverty status for civilian, non-institutionalized 0.5-74 year-old persons; the data were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) II survey. These data provide reference information that can be used to: identify distributional differences among population subgroups and identify values of patient test results that may be of medical concern. These data also can aid public health officials in health policy and program formulation relative to specific subpopulations at medical or nutritional risk. (wz).
