The aim of this study was to identify the graft carrier-variety combinations showing the best characteristics of adaptation to the conditions of soil water availability in the Lagunera Mexico region, so as to diversify the use of water from the Lazaro Cardenas Dam, which to date is only used for growing cotton. During the evaluation process it was found that of the combinations studied, the Freedom-Queen and the Freedom-Carignan have the lowest values for initial turgidity loss point (ITLP), osmotic potential to complete turgidity and total water potential to zero pressure potential. This indicates that these two combinations are more tolerant to moisture deficiency, which in this study was 71 days long, after the first watering on March 14.
