ITALIANO: [La normativa della CEE chiamata set-aside, introdotta nel 1988, stabiliva di assegnare un contributo ai coltivatori per interrompere, volontariamente e per alcuni anni, la coltivazione di parcelle di terreno. Nel nostro paese questa normativa ha riscosso un buon successo, soprattutto al sud, perche' permetteva agli agricoltori di liberarsi di terreni improduttivi, incrementando i guadagni. Questo ha segnato un cambiamento di atteggiamento storico in Italia dove, in passato, il bisogno di terre aveva portato al recupero di terreni secondari. Diversa e' stata la risposta all'ultima normativa Mac Sharry che stabiliva il set-aside annuo e obbligatorio. Infatti, questa volta, tutti gli agricoltori sono stati coinvolti, anche nell'Italia settentrionale e in molte zone produttive e questo ha portato ad una riduzione del reddito medio dei migliori produttori].

The ECC rule called set-aside, introduced in 1988, stated a farmers' retribution for stopping the cultivation - voluntary and for several years - on plots of land. It arose a good success in our country, especially in Southern districts, because farmers were allowed to get rid of unproductive lands, improving their incomes. That marked an historical change of attitude in Italy, where in the past the need of land caused the reclamation of a lot of secondary soils. Different was the answer to the late Mac Sharry code that stated annual and compulsory set-aside. This time in facts were involved all the farmers, also in Northern Italy and in the most productive lands and this caused a reduction of the average income of the best producers.
