The effects of salt levels in irrigaton water with various salt dissolubility on the yield of lettuce (Lactuca sativa)

The aim of this study was determine of different solubility salt effects on lettuce (Lactuca Sativa) yields and reveal the impact level of different salt type while increasing salt level.The research was carried out four different irrigation water salinity level (T1 = 0 dS / m, T2 = 2 dS / m, T3 = 4 dS / m, and T4 = 6 dS / m) using high soluable salt NaCl and low soluable salt CaSO4, under two seperate trails in pots at greenhouse conditions. The experimental design was randomized factorial design with three replications. Plants were harvested, wet and dry weights of the leaves were measured.According to obtained data of this study; the lettuce yield (fresh and dry weight) with increased water salinity reduction were observed. When compare different soluable salt type depending on increasing irrigation water salinity the highest average yield was obtained at T1 (57.97 gr/pots) and T2 (30.07 gr/pot), T3 (21.10 gr/pot) ve T4 (14.39 gr/pot) repectively at high souble salt type NaCl. The avarage yieds were T1 (62.38 gr/pot), T2 (32.56 gr/pot), T3 (28.86 gr/pot) and T4 (26.18 gr/pot) respectivelty at low souble salt type CaSO4.The results presented in this work showed that irrigation water which including NaCl was harmful more than CaSO4 for lettuce. This indicates that the salt type in irrigation water is as important as the level of salts.
