Evaluation of spring sowing oat genotypes for yield and quality components under karaman ecolocigal conditions
2017
Sobayoglu, R.
This research was conducted to determine suitable oat genotypes for spring sowing in Karaman ecological conditions during 2015 growing season. Experimental design was Completely Randomized Blocks Design with four replications. Eight oat cultivars (Yeşilköy 1779, Checota, Faikbey, Seydişehir, Sebat, Yeniçeri, Kırklar ve Kahraman) and two local genotypes (Local population 1 and Local population 2) were included as a research material. In this study plant height, number of panicles per square meter, total tiller number per plants, fertile tiller number per plants, panicle length, spikelet number per panicles, kernel number per panicles, harvest index, thousand kernel weight, hectoliter weight, husk ratio, grain yield, protein ratio, oil ratio, crude fiber and ash ratio in grain were investigated.According the results, mean values of the genotypes changed between 54.6-72.8 cm for plant height, 430.0-532.5 for panicle number per square meter, 1.3-1.6 for total tiller number per plants, 1.2-1.45 for fertile tiller number per plant, 15.7-18.1 cm for panicle length, 8.8-13.for spikelet number per panicle, 18.1-27.4 kernel number per panicle, 22-28% harvest index, 25.3-46.9 g for thousand kernel weight, 44-57.8 kg for test weight , 7.3 - 34.5% for husk ratio, 99.0-241.0 kg/da for grain yield; 10.6-13.8% for protein rato,4.9-6% for oil ratio, 11-12.9% for crude fiber ratio and 3.1-4.9% for ash ratio in grain. According to the grain yield results Yeşilköy-1779 (241.4 kg/da), Seydişehir (206.7 kg/da) and Faikbey (201.8 kg/da) were the best genotypes for spring sowing in Karaman conditions. In terms of quality featuresthe lowest husk ratio (7.3%) was obtained from the Kahraman; while the high ratio of protein was obtained from the Kahraman (13.9%) and Yeniçeri (13.3%); the high ratio of oil was obtained from the Yeşilköy (6 %), Checota (5.9 %), Seydişehir (5.7 %), Yeniçeri (5.7 %) and Sebat (5.7 %); the high ratio of crude fiber was obtained from the Yeşilköy (12.9 %) and Kırklar (12.8%) cultivars
