Nutritive value of offals and meals from two rendering processes
1990
Dawson, C.O. | Savage, G.P. | Swan, J.E.
Samples of meat and bone meal, raw offals and intermediate products were collected at a low temperature rendering plant and a dry rendering plant. The biological value, true digestibility and net protein utilization of the samples were determined in rat feeding trials, and the amino acid availability, true metabolizable energy and digestible energy were determined in cockerel feeding trials. Both plants were processing similar lamb slaughter waste. The results indicate that low temperature rendering meals will have a higher nutritional value than dry rendered meals made from the same material
