Mechanization of localized soil operations in Umbrian hill and low mountain reforestation

Английский. A number of mechanized soil working techniques used for reforestation activities in hill and low mountain areas in Umbria are illustrated. In particular, there is a description of making "contour benches", in the majority of cases made with the use of equipment analogous to that possessed by local farmers. An outline is given of machines, equipment and indicative methods and times under various conditions of lithology and slope, evidencing the maximum thresholds of application. On the basis of a comparison with other practices and experiments carried out in our country and various others in the Mediterranean area, it is concluded that the type of soil operations adopted in Umbria could become more widespread. They in fact ensure relatively limited times and are suitable for multipurpose measures, adequately complying with the aims of soil conservation and of reducing the impact on the environment and on the landscape. The necessity of further investigations being conducted to verify the possible application of these techniques in other environments, and of assessing their effectiveness in terms of plant survival and productivity is also pointed out. итальянский. Si illustrano alcune tecniche di lavorazione meccanizzata del suolo impiegate per attivita' di rimboschimento in zone di collina e bassa montagna dell'Umbria. In particolare, si descrive l'apertura di "gradoncini" secondo le curve di livello attuate, nella maggior parte dei casi, con mezzi analoghi a quelli in dotazione alle locali aziende agricole. Si fornisce un quadro di macchine, attrezzi, modalita' e tempi indicativi di lavoro relativi a diverse condizioni di litologia e pendenza, evidenziando le soglie massime di applicazione. In base al confronto con altre esperienze realizzate nel nostro e in vari paesi dell'area mediterranea, si conclude che i metodi di lavorazione adottati in Umbria possono avere una piu' ampia diffusione. Essi, infatti, assicurano tempi di lavoro relativamente contenuti e si adattano ad interventi a fini multipli assolvendo adeguatamente agli scopi di conservazione del suolo e di riduzione dell'impatto ambientale e paesaggistico. Si segnala inoltre l'esigenza di ulteriori indagini volte a verificare la possibile applicazione di tali tecniche e a valutarne l'efficacia in termini di attecchimento e produttivita'. Infine, si segnalano alcuni problemi tecnici ancora non risolti, relativi alla meccanizzazione delle cure colturali
