Effects of non-price export promotion: some evidence for cotton [USA]
1993
Solomon, H. (Tuskegee Univ. (USA). Dept. of Agricultural Economics) | Kinnucan, H.W. (Auburn Univ. (USA). Dept. of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology)
An Armington-type trade model is estimated to determine the effects of government-subsidizes export promotion on the demand for USA cotton in the Pacific Rim. Results show a significant relationship between promotion expenditures and USA market share in 4 of the 6 countries examined. The hypothesis that export promotion has a carryover period lasting beyond 1 year in general is supported by the data.
