Studies on the life cycle, infectivity and clinical effects of Capillaria hepatica (Bancroft) (Nematoda) in mice, Mus musculus [pest of plant products]

Spratt, D.M. | Singleton, G.R. (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Lyneham (Australia). Div. of Wildlife and Rangelands Research)
Details of the life cycle are described. It is postulated that transmission depends mostly on cannibalism or necrophagy; the rarity of infection amongst native mammals that are clinically susceptible appears to confirm the postulate. The parasite has potential as a biocontrol agent in mouse plagues.
