Reduction in fruit fly (Tephritidae: Dacinae) populations in their endemic rainforest habitat by frugivorous vertebrates [birds, rodents]

Natural control mechanisms on larval populations were surveyed in south-east Queensland. Hyperparisitism never exceeded 17 percent, while the consumption of host fruits by birds, and of larvae in fallen fruit by rodents, were each in the order of 75 percent.
