Английский. Demand for certain special purpose rice varieties is increasing as the consumption and market for these types in the European Union are expanding. The aim of the present study was to evaluate some aromatic lines of rice producted in North-Italy comparing with Basmati based on the 2-Acetyl-l Pyroline (AP) content in the milled grain. AP percentage ranged from 0.530 to 2.746 ppm in the new lines whereas AP concentration of Basmati was around 0.600 ppm
