In orchard trials, 7 insecticides and 3 sticky band trunk treatments were tested as barriers to prevent oviposition on valencia orange fruit on skirt-pruned and unskirted trees. The use of trunk sticky bands alone significantly reduced the incidence of A. cervinus egg batches on fruit harvested after 9-13 months from 40-50 percent to about 10 percent. The addition of chemicals to sticky band treatments did not improve control; and deltamethrin, bioresmethrin and azinphos-ethyl applied alone was not effective. Skirt-pruning and trunk banding show good prospects for non-chemical control options.
