The Munich Research Association for Agricultural Ecosystems (FAM) has developed a geographic information system that is used for the following tasks: storage and adiministration of spatial data; execution of spatial analyses, and representation of attribute data and map printing. To ensure the continued use of the geographic information system in the long term, a metadata information system for spatial data was developed

Die Verwaltung raeumlicher Daten, die raeumliche Datenanalyse und die Visualisierung raumbezogener Informationen erfordern ein Geographisches Informationssystem. Im Forschungsverbund fuer Agraroekosysteme Muenchen (FAM) wurde ein Geographisches Informationssystem aufgebaut, das fuer folgende Aufgaben eingesetzt wird: Speicherung und Verwaltung raeumlicher Daten; Durchfuehrung raeumlicher Analysen; Visualisierung von Sachdaten und Kartenausgabe. Um langfristig die Arbeit mit dem Geographischen Informationssystem zu gewaehrleisten, wurde ein Metainformationssystem fuer raeumliche Daten entwickelt
