Each of the seven chromosomes in cucumber was identified using sequential staining with Chromomycin A3 and 4-6-diamidi-no-2-phenylindole as DNA base-specific fluorescent dyes. The present method using enzymatic digestion produced a high level of well-spread early-meta-phase chromosome complements
