The dietitians use of the RDAs

Some of the uses the dietition makes of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) are described. The dietitian's expertise in applying the RDAs and the place of the RDAs in the context of the dietitian's overall responsibility are discussed. Areas of application include the administration of foodservices, construction of therapeutic diets, evaluation of diets for individuals and groups, evaluation of food products, preparation of educational materials,and education of consumers and professional persons. Nutrition education must bridge the gap between nutrition science and dietary planning.
