SIF: the Schools Interoperability Framework initiative is helping to build smarter schools

This article discusses the need for schools' software programs to connect with each other. Using the School Interoperability Framework (SIF), all student records are linked across departments, including admissions, meal accounts, security, and parent mailing lists. An example is given of a middle school in Florida that piloted SIF.
