Iron/iron oxide core–shell nanoparticles (Fe@FeₓOy) are a versatile support for immobilizing catalytic metals. Fe@FeₓOy decorated with Pd (Fe@FeₓOy/Pd) exhibits high catalytic activity toward Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reactions in aqueous solution at room temperature in air.
