The Green City Guidelines is an international book that provides information on the social and economic advantages of green spaces in urban environments. The book focuses on decision-makers and people practically involved in the field concerned. It provides tips and advice on ways of using plants, trees and parks to make a town 'greener'. The guidelines are the result of an integrated approach of all the disciplines involved in the layout of urban environments. They are based on the latest expertise and practical examples provided by many researchers and designers from the Netherlands and other countries. The book was written by municipal engineer and landscape architect Michelle de Roo, of Niek Roozen Landscape Architects. The book’s aim is to apply the knowhow relating to the GreenCityphilosophy as an integrated urban view on a socially and economically sound living and working environment in towns all over the world. The book will be updated to include knowledge and visions that become available in the years to come. The book comprises the following chapters: Green cities, Green neighbourhoods, Green streets, Green buildings.
