Evaluación de la fisiología reproductiva y calidad de semillas de Wilco (Anadenanthera colubrina) a nivel de laboratorio, usando las Normas ISTA.

The dry forests of the province of Loja, are sensitive and fragile ecosystems, which are being heavily intervened and destroyed, because they are in relatively populated areas and are of great economic importance for the population of the rural area, which supply timber products and non-timber for subsistence. In addition, activities such as goat farming and agriculture, exert great pressure on these ecosystems caused deep damage. So, restoring the vegetation cover of these natural ecosystems has become an unplayable need, which must be supported by an adequate knowledge of the native flora and the reproductive biology of the species. The species Anadenanthera colubrina (Wilco), is native to the transitional ecosystems of the dry forest to the Andean, has been reported in the province of Loja, and is considered as an important species for its seed, since it was used as a hallucinogen by the people originating. Under this perspective, the present research was developed: "Evaluation of the reproductive physiology and quality of the seeds of Anadenanthera colubrina (Wilco) at the laboratory level, using the ISTA Standards"; which sought to generate important information on the reproductive potential and quality of the seeds of the species, through laboratory tests, using ISTA standards, to contribute in this way to the conservation of the species in a natural environment and also allow to characterize a source seedbed and be able to propagate the species in reforestation projects with natural or biotechnological measures, which is of great importance for the province of Loja. As results of the present investigation it was obtained that on average the production of fruits per tree of the species of Anadenanthera colubrina, was 516.13 fruits per tree and with 33.38 fruits per branch. The quality of the seeds of the species, in terms of the percentage of purity was high, with a value of 98.91%, due to the good phytosanitary state presented by the selected individuals; as well as, at the time when the fruits were collected. The highest percentage of purity was from tree 4 with 99.68%, while the lowest percentage was from tree 9 with 96.95%. As for the weight of the 1000 seeds, an average value of 243.99 g (0.24 kg) was obtained, and in a kilogram the amount of 481.62 seeds in total of the trees evaluated was estimated. On average it was obtained that the species produces approximately 4,816 seeds / kg per tree. While the average moisture content of the seeds was 7.95%, it could be concluded that the seeds are orthodox type. Regarding germination at the laboratory level, the average percentage was 72.60%. The high germination value was due to the low percentage of seed contamination that was 27.40%. The high degree of germination of the species, allows us to conclude that the seeds of Anadenanthera colubrina have a high viability. Los bosques secos de la provincia de Loja, son ecosistemas sensibles y frágiles, que están siendo muy intervenidos y destruidos, por encontrarse en zonas relativamente pobladas y que son de gran importancia económica para la población del área rural, los cuales abastecen de productos maderables y no maderables para su subsistencia. Además, actividades como la ganadería caprina y agricultura, ejercen grandes presiones sobre estos ecosistemas ocasionando profundos daños. Por lo que restaurar la cubierta vegetal de estos ecosistemas naturales se ha convertido en una necesidad inaplazable, que debe estar sustentada en un conocimiento adecuado de la flora nativa y de la biología reproductiva de las especies. La especie Anadenanthera colubrina (Wilco), es nativa de los ecosistemas de transición de bosque seco al andino, ha sido reportada en la provincia de Loja, y se la considera como una especie importante por su semilla, ya que se usaba como alucinógeno por los pueblos originarios. Bajo esta perspectiva, se desarrolló la presente investigación titulada: “Evaluación de la fisiología reproductiva y calidad de las semillas de Anadenanthera colubrina (Wilco) a nivel de laboratorio, usando las Normas ISTA”; misma que buscó generar información importante sobre el potencial reproductivo y calidad de las semillas de la especie, mediante ensayos de laboratorio, utilizando las normas ISTA, para contribuir de esta forma a la conservación de la especie en ambiente natural y así mismo permitirá caracterizar una fuente semillera y poder propagar la especie en proyectos de reforestación con medidas naturales o biotecnológicas, la cual es de gran importancia para la provincia de Loja. Como resultados de la presente investigación se obtuvo que en promedio la producción de frutos por árbol de la especie de Anadenanthera colubrina, fue de 516,13 frutos por árbol y con 33,38 frutos por rama. La calidad de las semillas de la especie, en cuanto al porcentaje de pureza fue alto, con un valor de 98,91 %, debido al buen estado fitosanitario que presentaron los individuos seleccionados; así como también, a la época en la que se recolectaron los frutos. El porcentaje más alto de pureza fue del árbol 4 con 99,68 %, mientras que el porcentaje más bajo fue del árbol 9 con 96,95 %. En cuanto al peso de las 1000 semillas se obtuvo un valor promedio de 243,99 g (0,24 kg), y en un kilogramo se estimó la cantidad de 481,62 semillas en total de los árboles evaluados. En promedio se obtuvo que la especie produce por árbol aproximadamente 4.816 semillas/Kg. Mientras que el contenido promedio de humedad de las semillas fue de 7,95 %, con lo que se pudo concluir que las semillas son tipo ortodoxas. En lo relacionado a la germinación a nivel de laboratorio, el porcentaje promedio fue del 72,60 %. El alto valor de la germinación se dio por el bajo porcentaje de contaminación de las semillas que fue de 27,40 %. El alto grado de germinación de la especie, nos permite concluir que las semillas de Anadenanthera colubrina tienen una alta viabilidad.
