Estudo sobre a percepção ambiental através do uso de mapas mentais sobre os lugares vividos por alunos do 6º ano do ensino fundamental do município de Santa Maria – RS | Study on environmental perception through the use of mental maps on places lived by students of the 6th year of fundamental education in the city of Santa Maria – RS/Brazil

The present work performs an analysis about the environmental perception of students of the 6th year of primary education in the municipality of Santa Maria/RS – Brazil, in relation to the place where they live. The survey is conducted in schools representing different regions of the municipality, namely: north, east, west and central. As a method, mental maps were used to obtain, through drawings, the places, situations and things that are most representative of the students. Questionnaires were also applied to maximize the scope of map interpretation. The analyzes carried out contents related to humanistic geography. The representations through mental maps were convergent with the data obtained in the questionnaires, revealing that the students' perceptions on topics such as environmental, neighborhood and transit problems have similarities in their manifestations, although in different neighborhoods.

O presente trabalho realiza uma análise sobre a percepção ambiental de alunos do 6º ano do ensino fundamental do município de Santa Maria com relação ao lugar onde moram. O levantamento é realizado em escolas que representam diferentes regiões do município, a saber: região norte, leste, oeste e central. Como método, adotou-se a elaboração de mapas mentais visando obter, através de desenhos, os lugares, situações e coisas que são mais representativas aos alunos. São aplicados também questionários a fim de maximizar o alcance da interpretação dos mapas. As análises realizadas possuem como bases referenciais, sobretudo, conteúdos ligados à geografia humanista. As representações através de mapas mentais foram convergentes com os dados obtidos nos questionários, revelando que a percepção dos alunos sobre tópicos como problemas ambientais, vizinhança e trânsito, apresentam similaridades em suas manifestações, ainda que em bairros diferentes.
