Occurrence of Trypanosoma evansi Infection in Cross Bred Cattle Suffering from Intercurrent Diseases and Stress Conditions.

Abortion, still birth, premature birth and mortality of cross bred dairy cattle (Jersey × Tharparkar/Red Sindhi) were noticed in the organized dairy farm of National Dairy Research Institute, Eastern Regional Station, Kalyani, Nadia, situated in hot and humid climatic area nearer to the river Ganges of West Bengal, India. The history of the farm revealed newly introduction of pure bred dairy cattle and outbreak of FMD during mid March to mid April, affected about 34% cross bred cows. During investigation, intermittent rise of temperature (104°F -108°F), anorexia, rapid respiration, progressive deterioration of health of animals and loss of milk production were also noticed. On the basis of past history, twenty suspected animals were taken for disease investigation. Repeated visit of the farm and repeated examinations of blood smears were done to observe any haemoprotozoan infections. Twenty to thirty percent of those suspected animals were found positive for Brucella antibodies by STAT, plate agglutination test and MRT. After a massive screening of blood smears, during the visit of third time, ultimately one animal (Identification number JT614) was found positive for the presence of Trypanosoma evansi infections in Giemsa stained blood smears. The infected and all suspected animals were successfully treated with single injection of a mixture of quinapyramine sulphate and chloride @ 7.4 mg/kg body weight subcutaneously. As a prophylactic measure, a mixture of quinapyramine sulphate and chloride @ 7.4 mg/kg body weight subcutaneously were also administered to all suspected animals prevented further occurrence of the disease in this dairy farm. It can be concluded that the iAfection with T. evansi in this farm has happened in a condition of intercurrent diseases with environmental stresses.

Results of studies of peculiar properties of progesterone content in blood serum of outbred female rats under the influence of intensive ionizing radiation against the background of stress stimulation realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus were presented. There were the following animal groups: 1. controlled rats; 2. irradiated rats; 3. stressed animals; 4. rats subjected to ionizing radiation and stress. Research results showed that concentration of progesterone in serum blood of female rats in 3 days after immobilized stress decreased on 40% in comparison with the control indexes. More intensive decreasing of hormone level took place after irradiation in dose of 1 Gy (on 62% in comparison with the controlled group). Combine activity of ionizing radiation and stress involved the decreasing of hormone concentration on 25% in comparison with the controlled group. In ten days there was the restoration of changes. Increase of progesterone concentration in blood serum took place in all tested groups. Hormone level in blood serum of irradiated rats increased on 46,04 nmol/l in comparison with results of the third day after irradiation. Hormone level in blood serum of stressed animals increased on 11,63 nmol/l, in group subjected to the combined activity of ionizing radiation and stress – on7,65nmol/l. On the thirtieth day the indexes of progesterone concentration in blood serum of irradiated rats, stressed rats and rats subjected to ionizing radiation and stress were almost similar to the control indexes

Investigation of stress reaction response and productivity of poultry by means of stimulation of natural resistance by biologically active substances was realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus by an example of 4 experimental group of broiler chickens of Kobb-500 cross. The first group was a control one. Chickens of the second group were administrated preparation Vigozin twofold in dose of 1 ml/l with water in course of the first three days in 2 cycles and with interval of 8 days. Chickens of the third group were given the preparation with water in dose of 1 ml/1 in course of the first 3 days. The fourth group was given the preparation with water in dose of 1 ml/1 in course of the first 5 days. In course of observation over chickens there was analyzed their clinical state, mortality rate, weight gain, and meat yield. In course of study in chickens of experimental group the daily average weight gain was 37,8 g against 34,1 in control; average live weight – 1099,6 +/- 7,57 g against 95,98 +/- 0,50 g in control. In 46-day old broiler chickens the average daily weight gain was 46,2 g against 43,1 g in control, average live weight – 2166,94 +/- 0,49 g against 2021,08 +/- 1,05 g in control. Forage expenses per 1 kg of weight gain were 2,01 kg against 2,18 kg in control. Forage conversion was 7,8%. Research results proved the efficiency of application of Vigozin preparation: viability of chickens in the second group on increased 3,5%; the third group - on 1,7% ; in the fourth group - on 2,5%

The given research results of feeding highly productive cows with new forage supplement of humic-melanoidine nature during the milking period show stable mineral metabolism, correction of their redundant supply within the diet, perfection of digestion and transition into milk as well as minimizing consequences of metabolism intensification. Reception new forage supplement promoted improvement of mastering by an animals organism of necessary iron during the given physiological period, to restriction of mastering of the microelements equal to the category of heavy metals
