Histopathologic studies on the brain and lymphoid organ [of swine]

This study was done to clarify the histopathological changes of pigs naturally infected with hog cholera. Microscopic observations of the necrotic lesion and inclusion body in the lymphoid organs were carried out in the natural cases of hog cholera and experimental cases inoculated with ALD (challenge) virus and isolated virus strains. Electron microscopic findings of the intranuclear inclusion bodies in the retincular cell of spleen and lymph node were also observed in the experimental cases. The histological findings of necrosis of lymphoid organs were found to contain 35.0% in the natural and 37.5% in the experimental cases. Intranuclear inclusion bodies were found mainly in the reticular cells of lymhoid organ, the epithelium of bronchiole and alevolus, and the vascular endothelium of brain. These inclusion bodies were seen in 40.0% of the natural cases and in all of the experiment cases. The inclusion body appeared to be composed of activated nucleoli and chromatin granuls (interchromatin and perichromatin) by electron microscopy

An acute enteric disease accompanied with vomiting diarrhea, anorexia, pyrexia, dehydration and high mortality occurred in dogs. According to epidemiological and clinico-pathological studies the cases were tentatively diagnosed as viral enteritis and the possibility of canine parvovirus as the etiological agent for the cases was also discussed

This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of hypobaric hypoxia on PCV (packed cell volume), Hb conc. (hemoglobin concentration), RBC No. (red cell number) and red cell GSH (levels of reduced glutathione) and DPG (diphosphoglycerate) in the rabbit. There was a significant rise in all the parameters measured except DPG which did not change during and/or after the hypobaric hypoxia

This experiment was done to estimate the blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine concentrations in renal dysfunction which was experimentally induced with reduction in renal mass in dogs. During the experiment, blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine concentrations showed no variance in dogs with 50% reductions in renal mass, but these values were remarkably increased in dogs with 75% reductions in renal mass. It was considered that 755 reductions in renal mass was applicable as experimental models for renal dysfunction
