Мета. Узагальнити результати вивчення інтродукованих зразків зернобобових культур в Устимівському інтродукційно-карантинному розсаднику (Полтавська обл.) та виявити цінні ознаки у матеріалу, різного за географічним походженням, в умовах південної частини Лісостепу України. Методи. Польовий, лабораторний, узагальнення, аналітичний. Результати. За період 2005–2015 рр. проведено первинне вивчення 2282 нових зразків різних видів та сортотипів гороху, нуту, сочевиці, квасолі, сої, чини й люпину за такими основними селекційними та господарсько-цінними ознаками, як скоростиглість, крупнонасіннєвість, високе прикріплення нижніх бобів, висока озерненість, стійкість до вилягання та осипання насіння. Висновки. В результаті первинного вивчення зразків зернобобових культур зарубіжного походження виділено нові джерела й донори цінних господарських, біологічних ознак. Залучення нового матеріалу та його використання в селекційних програмах забезпечить розширення генетичної основи цінних господарських ознак, а отже, підвищення рівня та стабільності їхнього прояву у створених сортах та лініях.

Purpose. Considering ways to solve issues related to soil cover study at the institutions for plant varieties examination. Methods.Fieldandanalytical ones. Results. Issues are identified that arise during soil sampling at institutions for plant varieties examination within the state system of plant varieties protection. The author considered in detail the current soil sampling techniques for agrochemical testing for humus, nitrogen (compounds to be easily hydrolyzed), mobile P2O5, exchangeable K2O, hydrolytic acidity and others. Attention was paid to violation of methodological requirements concerning the time of soil sampling and number of samples for agrochemical testing at the experimental field, to the lack of devices for meteorological observation and appliances for soil and leaf diagnostics. The article also touches upon the issues associated with the study of soil cover at fields with scientifically-based crop rotation that belong to institutions for plant varieties examination within the state system of plant varieties protection. Conclusions. It should be necessary to follow recommended practice when sampling at elementary sites for agrochemical testing and performing all operations in accordance with crop cultivation flowcharts. General recommendations for agrochemical testing of fields in case of conventional crop rotations in farms are not suitable for fields with scientifically-based crop rotations at institutions for plant varieties examination.

Purpose. Reviewing a history of formation and current state of the national nomenclature and streamlining the Ukrainian scientific species names for the genus Fragaria L. Results. Controversial attitudes towards the use of names «sunytsi» (= garden strawberry) and «polunytsi» (= hill strawberry) are inherently present in the Ukrainian nomenclature of the genus Fragaria L. The Ukrainian scientific names of species of this group of plants should be brought into line with the generic name “Sunytsi” in plural. Nothogeneric name x Fragophora Mezhenskyj (= Dasiphora Rafin. x Fragaria L.) is proposed. Conclusions. In a professional environment it is necessary to use only scientific names of species of the genus Fragaria – Sunytsi (= garden strawberry) that is used in plural in Ukrainian. Concerning garden strawberry, in every day life and popular literature the usage of a derivative sunytsia (in Ukrainian) in singular as well as polunytsia, polunytsi (in Ukrainian) may be permissible.

Purpose. Comparative evaluation of varieties of tomato bred by Kyiv experimental station of the Institute of vegetables and melons (IVM) NAAS of Ukraine with allowance for different fruit shapes. Methods. Field, laboratory, statistical ones. Results. Since varietal characteristics can greatly influence the course of the growth process, the experiment included phenological observations of plants growth and development, biometric measurements of plants and fruits, productivity records, besides, biochemical values of fruits with various shape were defined (flat-round and plum-shaped fruits). Varieties with the highest yield, best biochemical values and earlier fruit ripening were identified. Conclusions. Among the samples of tomato with flat-round fruits, Zoren variety had the shortest time interval from mass germination up to early ripening of fruits, Myroliubivskyi variety – in the group of plum-shaped fruits. In the first group Atlasnyi variety had the highest yield, in the second – Khoriv variety. Atlasnyi (flat-round fruits) and Oberig (plum-shaped fruits) varieties had the best biochemical values. Varieties with plum-shaped fruits excelled samples with flat-round fruits at biochemical composition.

Мета. Проаналізувати помилки, які допускають сторони в документах про передачу прав на сорти рослин при неправильному застосуванні заявниками та авторами сорту норм чинного законодавства в частині складання документів заявки на сорт рослини та додатків до неї; впорядкувати та розробити практичні рекомендації при укладанні правочинів про передачу прав на сорти рослин. Результати. Виявлено, що чинним законодавством передбачено укладання тільки двох видів договорів у сфері охорони прав на сорти рослин, якими не повністю забезпечуються права та інтереси сторін. Укладання договору про передачу права на подання заявки на сорт рослин є інструментом захисту прав заявників та підставою для прийняття її уповноваженим органом. Висновки. Оформлення документів заявки без помилок сприяє швидкому проведенню формальної експертизи та прийняттю позитивного для заявника рішення. Правильне оформлення трудових угод між селекціонером (автором) та роботодавцем сприяє захисту прав кожного з учасників таких угод.

Species in the order Rhytismatales M.E. Barr ex Minter (Leotiomycetes, Ascomycota) develop on a wide range of host plants, but prefer conifers, such as species of Cupressaceae and Pinaceae. Conifers, the largest group of gymnosperms, show a high diversity in China. In this study, the species diversity of Rhytismatales on twigs of conifers is investigated based on specimens newly collected in China. Morphological characteristics combined with multi-gene phylogenetic analysis (ITS, nrLSU, and mtSSU rDNA) revealed 18 new species, belonging to six new genera (Abiomyces, Cryptococcomyces, Labivalidus, Neotherrya, Pseudococcomyces, and Stipamyces) and three known genera (Hypoderma, Hypohelion, and Tryblidiopsis). Additionally, seven new combinations are proposed. The findings underscore the complexity of fungal taxonomy within Rhytismatales and the importance of considering multiple criteria for accurate classification. The study also explores the importance of host specificity for genus and species delimitation within the order. A key to genera and species of Rhytismatales on twigs of conifers worldwide is provided.

Purpose. Determination of peculiarities of anatomical and morphological characters of stevia plants to accelerate the identification of tetraploid forms. Methods. Field, laboratory and analysis-of-variance methods. Results. It was established that larger leaf area index (19–38%), fewer stomata per unit area (by 39–48%), larger diameter of pollen grains (by 42–92%) is a characteristic feature of anatomical and morphological characters of stevia tetraploid forms as compared to diploid ones. Conclusions. The parameters of leaf plate, the size of stomata and diameter of pollen grains are auxiliary selection criteria (rapid test). For tetraploid forms of stevia, leaf area index (the ratio of leaf blade length to width), size of stomata and diameter of pollen grains is truly larger as compared to diploid forms. Chromosomes number determination based on cytological analysis is the major and the most accurate criterion for selection of tetraploid forms, that seems advisable to use it at later stages of selection.

Мета. Дослідити особливості водоспоживання сортів вівса за різних строків сівби в умовах недостатнього та нестабільного режиму зволоження в північній частині Степу України. Методи. Польовий, метод синтезу, статистичний. Результати. Встановлено, що максимальну кількість вологи споживав сорт Скакун за сівби в оптимальні строки та в разі їх зміщення, що зумовлено його тривалішим вегетаційним періодом. Сумарне водоспоживання за вегетаційний період у нього становило 3189–2826 м3/га. Найменшу кількість вологи споживав сорт Кубанський – 2976 м3/га за оптимальних строків сівби та 2632 м3/га – за сівби зі зміщенням на 15 діб. Сорт Синельниківський 1321 за рівнем сумарного водоспоживання займав проміжне положення між оцінюваними сортами – він споживав 3069 м3/га вологи за сівби в оптимальні строки та 2732 м3/га – у разі її зміщення на 15 діб. Висновки. В умовах північної частини Степу України ефективне використання наявної вологи визначається здатністю деяких сортів краще адаптуватися до несприятливих за водним режимом умов вирощування. Сорт Синельниківський 1321 є найбільш посухостійким серед оцінених сортів. Середньопосухостійким виявився сорт Скакун. Оптимальні строки сівби є найпридатнішими для цієї зони. Сівба вівса в пізніші строки призводить до зменшення сумарного водоспоживання та підвищення коефіцієнтів водоспоживання. Найраціональніше волога використовується в разі сівби вівса в оптимальні строки та в умовах вищого природного вологозабезпечення.

Purpose. To study interactions among the representatives of the genus Salix L. through the cluster analysis, form groups of closely related species and hybrid forms basing on differences of morphological parameters of leaves. Methods. Field, cluster analysis and tree graphics. Results. Willow species were grouped according to absolute parameters of leaf, and three groups of clusters were identified. The degree of affinity between species were assessed using values of an Euclidean distance. Distinctive features of leaf parameters were defined: length of a leaf blade (Ll), distance (cm) between the leaf tip and its maximum width (SDmxT) and the distance between the leaf tip (cm) and the line of its width that corresponds to the length of petiole (SLpT). Conclusions. Using the willow species collection as an example, diagnostically valuable quantitative parameters of leaves were revealed, the use of which allows to identify willow species and hybrid forms through PC applications.

To analyse the modern classification and nomenclature of species of pome fruit crops which varieties are listed in the State Register of Plants Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine, and improve terminological system of the Ukrainian names of both species and garden crops. Results. Fruit cultivars and most apple clonal rootstocks belong to Malus pumila, and ornamental cultivars belong to Malus gloriosa. The most common scientific name of the cultivated apple, especially among horticulturists, is Malus domestica, although according to the principle of priority the name Malus pumila should have the advantage. As far as Nomenclature Committee for Vascular Plants has rejected the proposal to conserve the name Malus domestica, Malus pumila is correct name for the cultivated apple. The use of synonymic name Malus domestica should be avoided in both scientific and scientific-popular papers for stability of nomenclature. Pear cultivars listed in the State Register of Plants Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine are presented by Pyrus communis, and pear rootstocks – by Cydonia oblonga. Fruit cultivars of the latter belong to separate fruit crop named quince. An apple-quince hybrid was registered as universal clonal rootstock for pome fruit crops. The State Register of Plants Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine also contains nonconventional fruit crops such as Chaenomeles and hawthorn that consist of some species and nothospecies. Conclusions. In scientific publications one should stop the use of synonymic name Malus domestica in favour of the correct name for cultivated apple Malus pumila. Apple, pears and Chaenomeles cultivars listed in the State Register of Plants Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine have a complex multispecies origin whereas quince, hawthorn and pear roostock cultivars systematically are monospecies. A universal roootstock of pome fruit crops is Cydolus, or apple-quince, that resulted from interspecies hybridization between quince and apple. Refusal Refuse to use obsolete names of fruit plants species will promote harmonization of professional language.
