2001
Stanisavljevic, M. | Krstic, I. (Fakultet zastite na radu, Nis (Yugoslavia). Smer zastita zivotne sredine)
The subject of the paper is eco-technological procedure of the treatment of the sludge generated during conventional purification (Cn(-) oxidation, Cr(6+) reduction, chemical precipitation of the other metals) of the wastewater from galvanic process. The detailed analysis of the waste sludge with the determination of high flow (the water eluate) and low flow (HNO3-eluate) fraction as Cu(2+), Cr(3+), Cd(2+), Ni(2+), Pb(2+), Zn(2+). The point of the paper is the treatment of the sludge as the dangerous waste into useful product glass-ceramics, with eliminating of the generation of the dangerous and harmful materials in environment. Experimental investigation has achieved the point and approved that with this procedure it is possible to transform chemical active matters (Cu(2+), Cr(3+), Cd(2+), Ni(2+), Pb(2+), Zn(2+)) using the phase and chemical transformation into very stable structure where the pollutants can not be activated even under critical conditions as high temperature, influence of acids and alkalines, etc.

2001
Savic, J. | Vasic, V. (Institut za nuklearne nauke "Vinca", Beograd (Yugoslavia). Laboratorija za fizicku hemiju)
The reaction of Pd(II) with 1,8-dihydroxy-2-(pyrazol-5-ylazo)-naphthalen-3,6-disulphonic acid immobilized by physical sorption onto Dowex 1-X8 ion-exchange resin was investigated with the aim to develop the sorption-spectroscopic test method for the detection of low Pd(II) concentrations in water. The resin phase absorption spectra of the reagent and its Pd(II) complex were followed. The immobilized reagent has the spectral characteristics similar to those in the water and forms with Pd(II) 1:1 complex with the absorption maximum at 650 nm. Parameters, such as pH, wavelength and contact time have been optimized for a given amount of the sorbed reagent. The experimental conditions for the linear dependence of absorbance vs. Pd(II) concentration have been determined.

Marjanovic, Z. | Damjanovic, M. (Institut za vodoprivredu Jaroslav Cerni, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
This paper is an abstract of the operative program for water protection in the Republic of Serbia (Yugoslavia) for the next five-year period of time. There is a short review on the present water protection status, particularly status of wastewater treatment plants. It includes layouts of water protection solutions in different fields, by priorities, as well as assessment of necessary capital investments for their implementation.

2001
Momic, T. | Banjac, A. | Horvat, A. (Institut za nuklearna istrazivanja Vinca, Beograd (Yugoslavia). Laboratorija za molekularnu biologiju)
Possibilities of application of transmembrane enzymes as a biological component of a biosensor for water quality control and detection of toxical substances were performed. Synaptic plasma membranes (SPMs) were adsorbed on nitrocellulose filters. The adsorption of SPMs was followed by determination of the transmembrane enzyme Na,K-ATPase. The optimal conditions for SPM adsorption on nitrocellulose filters were determined: 25 microgram per nitrocellulose filter disc during 1 hour of incubation, on - 20 deg C. The ATPase activity of adsorbed SPM showed, that almost 30% of enzymic activity was detected on nitrocellulose filters in mentioned conditions. This results showed that adsorption of SPM on solid support enhancing enzymatic stability and enable its industrial and analytical application.

2001
Bobic, M. (Institut za vode Republike Srpske, Bijeljina - Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina))
In the scope of the Program of surface water quality examinations in the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina), hydrometric measurements and water quality examinations had been realized, where zooplankton and microzooperiphyton researches have been performed. Sampling were performed in the period from 6th to 20th May 2000, at 13 water courses with taken in total 21 samples. In qualitative structure of examined fauna, Rotatoria, Cladocera and Copepoda groups were treated, with ascertained in total 109 taxa from 41 genus. In qualitative structure periphyton taxa are predominant. On the basis of bioindicatory species structure it is noticed that dominant species are oligasaprobic and oligobetamesosaprobic character.

2001
Savic, R. | Belic, S. | Belic, A. (Poljoprivredni fakultet, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia). Institut za uredjenje voda)
The paper deals with evaluation of surface water quality in Vojvodina (Serbia, Yugoslavia) by integral methods. The aim was to emphasize streams and localities where water quality is insatisfied condition longer period of time. The profiles, chosen according to continuity of quality problems which are not results of short excesses, rightfully could be named as a "black points".

2001
Brankovic, D. | Budakov, Lj. (Zavod za zastitu prirode Srbije, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia). Odeljenje u Novom Sadu)
The paper deals with the results of the phytoplankton investigations carried out in the 7 localities along the Yugoslav section of the Tisza river in the period of 13 Februar - 3 March 2000, after accidental pollution with the cyanide and heavy metals. Although certain decrease in the density of the phytoplankton and variation in the qualitative and quantitative composition were recorded, there are no significant differences in comparison with the data before accident. The short-term and possible long-term consequences were recognized, having in mind ability of algae to accumulate pollutants into their cells, and that algae are the first link on food chains. Since the content of pollutants increases with every next member in the chain, it is easy to assume cumulative effect of the all previous members.

In this paper a part of results of the wastewater quality control from the Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac", water from the rivers Danube and Mlava, and groudwaters near by (Serbia, Yugoslavia), is considered. In order to protect environment from the effects of hurtful substances make during working process of Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac" is especially does using solid fuel (coal), the Institute of Public Health of Serbia following an approved program checks upon the quality of groundwaters, water the rivers Danube and Mlava including the wastewater from the Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac", four times a year. The results of our research point out to the hurtful effects of the wastewater from Thermal Power Plant "Kostolac" on the groundwater.

2001
Sciban, M. | Klasnja, M. (Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia). Tehnoloski fakultet)
Sawdusts of hardwood - oak and black locust, modified with formaldehyde and/or alkali solution, were used as adsorbents zinc ions from model water. The influence of concentration of alkali solution for modification, on zinc ions adsorption efficiency were investigated. Batch adsorption tests were conducted on ambient temperature. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm equations were determinated for some adsorbents investigated. Good improvement of adsorption characteristics is achieved by modification of sawdust with alkali. Modification of sawdusts only with formaldehyde results with good prevention of leaching of organic substances as well as poor increase of adsorption efficiency.
