During the germination process, the impermeability of the tegument and the humidity of the substratum they influence the reidratação of the seeds, metabolic activation and consequent growth of your embryonic axis. Therefore, the present work was led with the objective of evaluating the effect of the removal of the tegument in the germination and vigor of seeds of pinhão-tame (Jatropha curcas L.) in different volumes of water in the substratum. After the seed shoud treatments they were installed in germination model Mandelsdorf under regime of natural light in the constant temperature of 30ºC. The experiment was set up in a completely randomized factorial design outline 2 x 4 (2 - with and without tegument and 4 - humidities 2,0; 2,5; 3,0 and 3,5 times the weight of the paper (g).). The evaluations were accomplished daily (primary roots protrusion) and to the 07 and 10 days of the beginning of the test, being computed the normal seedlings. In agreement with the results obtained in the present work, the retreat of the tegument can be ended it affects the germination and vigor of the seeds negatively, that the when the substratum is humidified with volume of water (mL) in the strip from 2,0 to 2,5 times the weight of the paper, happening the reduction of the germination and vigor when the substratum is humidified for superior values to this. Presenting better acting when the substratum is humidified with volumes of water (mL) equivalent to 3,0 and 3,5 times the weight of paper germitest (g), happening the reduction of the germination and vigor when the substratum is humidified for inferior values to these.

The knowledge of the parameters of the growth of a culture is of fundamental importance for a rational and efficient nutritional handling. An experiment was carried out during the period of october to december of 2005, in farm of the producing melons region of Assu-Mossoró, with the objective of analyzing the growth of the melon plant Gália fertirrigation with different doses of nitrogen and potassium. The randomized blocks in a factorial scheme (3 x 3), with three replications. The Treatments consisted of combination the three nitrogen doses (N1-42, N2-84 e N3-126 kg ha-1) and potassium (K1-106, K2-212 e K3-322 kg ha-1), being the levels N2 e K2 are most recommended in technical literature, applied for fertirrigation with different irrigation depths (L1 = 1,1.NTI, L2 = 0,9.NTI and L3 = 0,7.NTI). The appraised variables were index of leaf area (IAF), matter dries of the aerial part (MSPA) and the reason of leaf area (RLA). The index of leaf area and I accumulate it of matter dries can be dear for equations polynomials of the second degree. The index of leaf area and the matter accumulation dries were influenced positively by the increment in the doses of applied nutrients and for the irrigation depths. The reason of leaf area of the melon plant is reduced during the cycle of the culture, being influenced by the irrigation depths than for the levels of nitrogen and potassium.

To evaluate the effects of fiber level and source in diets on the intestinal morphology and histology of duodenum, jejunum and ileum medium portions, it used 40 rabbits New Zealand White race in growing phase, weaned with 35 days of age, allocated in individual cages in the entirely randomized design with 2x2 factorial outline. Samples of duodenum, jejunum and ileum of animals slaughtered at 45 days of age were collected to the present study. It was observed significant interaction of the dietary treatments on the intestinal morphology and histology parameters, being verify that diets with high e low level of fiber with soybean hulls propitiated the greater values of villus height and those diets with high e low level of fiber with alfalfa hay propitiated the bigger values of crypt depth, while the number of goblet cells was larger to the diet with high level of fiber contained soybean hulls. And so there was significant effect of the food quality in terms of fiber components on the extrusion and turnover in intestinal mucous membrane cells, it was evidenced by the greater villus height:crypt depth ratio provided with the diets contained soybean hulls in relation to those diets contained alfalfa hay.

The quality of irrigation water is one of the environmental factors that can affect the initial growth of the culture of gherkin. Therefore, the aim of this work to evaluate germination in different levels of salinity of irrigation water. The study was carried out at the Seed Analysis Laboratory of the Department of Crop Science of the UFERSA, Mossoró, RN, between September and October 2007. The treatments were organized in a completely randomized design whit six levels of water salinity (0.00; -0.04 MPa; -0.08 MPa; -0.12 MPa; -0.16 MPa and -0.20 MPa) and four replications. Percentage of germination, speed of germination index and dry weight were evaluated. Results showed that the gradual reduction of the osmotic potential of substrate is harmful to seed germination of gherkin seeds. Osmotic potentials lower than -0.04 MPa were considered as critical.

In many areas irrigated of the world, water supply of good quality not be enough for the maintenance of the irrigated agriculture, or your cost be elevated, seeking itself alternative with water use of the underground or even of drainage. Generally, these waters are not of good quality and they need to be well managed to avoid the degradation of the soils and damages to the plants. This work objectified evaluate the composition of lixiviate in four soils of Rio Grande do Norte, irrigated with waters of increasing levels of electric conductivity (EC) and sodium adsorption relation (SAR). This work aims to evaluate Assu/Mossoró, RN, agricultural production center soil degradation under irrigation with increasing electrical conductivity (EC) levels, and sodium adsorption rates (RAS), when cultivated with cantaloupe. The work was conducted in a greenhouse at the Environmental Sciences Department of Semi-Arid Rural Federal University. Four soil types, traditionally used for cantaloupe production, were used and irrigated with solutions corresponding to eight EC (EC = 100, 250, 500, 750, 1.250, 1.750, 2.250 and 3.000 ¿S/cm) and two SAR (SAR = 4 and 12) levels, as salinity treatments, corresponding to the irrigation waters used in the Northeast, with low sodification risk, especially in the studied area. So the experiment was a factorial arrangement of 4 x 8 x 2 (four soils, eight EC and two SAR), with three replicates, on a randomized block design. They were evaluated pH and EC, as well as cations and anions soluble of each lixiviate collected of the 10 days after transplanted of the dumb. The use of leaching solutions promoted salt leaching in four studied soils, mainly at Cambissolo and Neossolo.The increase in the concentration of the percolates solutions promoted larger losses of salts, which were crescent with the time of leachate.

The study of the family Hydrophyllaceae senso latu in the state of Pernambuco, Brazilian Northeastern is presented. It was found only one species, Hydrolea spinosa L., being provided description, besides illustrations, comments based on its morphology, distribution and flowering and fruiting data.

In function of the low availability, due the precipitation and specific adsorption, the phosphorus is very required in fertilization programs. The availability of the phosphorus can be evaluated through chemical extractors, aiming simulate the soil-plant system. The aims of this work are: to determine the available phosphorus in a Quartzarenic Neosol through Mehlich -1, Mehlich -3 and Bray -1 extractors and to observe the relationship between the absorbed and accumulated phosphorus in the melon crop. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse at Federal Rural University, Pernambuco state, Brazil, in casualizated blocks with three replications and six doses of phosphorus (0, 37, 74, 148, 222 and 370 mg dm-3). The plants were collected at 37 days after seedling, determining the dry mass and the content of phosphorus in the shoot biomass and were collected soil samples to determine available phosphorus with Mehlich - 1, Mehlich - 3 and Bray - 1 extractors. The extractors didn't present differences to the available phosphorus. The increase of soil phosphorus doses increased the phosphorus content in the dry mass, without to cause changes in the production of dry mass.

An experiment was carried out from September to November 2001 in the greenhouse of the Plant Science Departament of Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido, to evaluate the use of different organic composts on growing of bell pepper seedlings. The experimental design used was of group balanced blocks with four replications. The groups of composts tested were: Plantmax, compost of cashew tree leaves and mixed compost. Within each group of compost was tested a mixture with sandy and/or soil. The cultivar of bell pepper used was All Big. Evaluations were made for number of leaves per plant, plant height, shoot fresh and dry matter, root length and root fresh and dry matter taken 25 days after sowing. Pure organic composts had the best performance on the growing of the bell pepper seedlings than those in mixture with sand and/on soil. Seedlings had better quality as cultivated in pure organic composts as compared to those in commercial substrate Plantimax.

The study was carried out greenhouse of the Department of Forestry of the Federal University of Paraíba, Patos, PB. Are am of this study to evaluate the effect of the inoculation with native rhizobia and/or arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) of the initial growth of red-angico (Anadenanthera macrocarpa Benth. Bren.), a legume native tree of the great socio-economic and ecological importance in the semi-arid of the Brazilian northeast. The plants grew for 120 days in pots with 4.0 dm3 with a mixture by sand and clay (1:2, v/v). The five treatments consisted: inoculation of AM fungi (Glomus etunicatum Becker & Gerdmann) and/or native rhizobia (NR), previously selected; addition of N (100 mg dm-3) and a control (without N and inoculation). All treatments were significantly higher than the control for seedling height and shoot dry weight, mainly in the treatment with fungi inoculation. Inoculation treatments were able to supply the nutrients (N and P) for growth of A. macrocarpa seedlings ultil 120-days old.
