Embryology of a few aquatic helobiales with special emphasis on histochemistry
1989
Kappor, Tripat (University of Delhi (India). Dept. of Botany)
The development of endosperm is of the Helobial type. The uninucleate chalazal chamber is metabolically active and exhibits nucleo-cytoplasmic interaction. The embryogenesis conforms to the caryophyllad type. The basal cell persists and blocks the emergence of the root through proper site in Potomogeton and Najas. The embryo shows 3 intraseminal leaves in Potomogeton nodosus; 3 to 15 in Najas sp. The cells of the cotyledonary and hypocotyledonary regions are groged with polysaccharide granules.
