Stimulatory effect of methyl jasmonate of polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase activities, and starch degradation in scales of tulip bulbs

It was found that methyl jasmonate (Ja-Me) greatly stimulated polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase activities in scales of tulip bulbs during the storage period. The content of starch and amylase activity was decreased in Ja-Me treated scales of tulip bulbs. The metabolic significance of these findings is discussed
