The production, consumption and state of the material-technical basis of meat production are described. Based on the analysis of the present state of the meat industry, the paper provides a conception of meat production development. Purposes as well as recommendations concerning the precision of the agricultural policy to assure meat production and treatment in the Slovakia are also proposed.
