The naked oat variety GK Zalan and the naked barley variety GK Arpad, both commercially produced in Hungary, are used as examples to demonstrate the place of naked (hull-less) varieties in taxonomy, their origin and botany, the inheritance of nakedness (hull-lessness), the performance of naked varieties compared to normal (hulled) varieties, and their role part in commercial production, food industrial processing and nutrition.
