In the present study, we evaluated the effects of ethanol on insulin like growth factor (IGF)-I and insulin like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP)-1 secretion using RT-PCR, western immunoblotting and radio-immuno assay (RIA) in primary cultured rat hepatocytes. IGF-I secretion and gene expression with different dosages of ethanol (1, 5, 10, 50 and 100 mM) were suppressed in dose-dependent manner.
