Effect of urea preservation on quality and nutritive value of meadow hay

Urea preserving ability in comparison to that of propionic acid was studied. The moisture content in hay and the amount of urea did not affect in vitro dry matter digestibility. The lower content of fungi spores in urea preserved hay than that in propionic acid preserved or dry-stored hay was stated. There were no mycotoxins in urea preserved hay
