This article presents the results of a recent National Center for Education Statistics report, "Nutrition Education in the U.S. Public Elementary School Classrooms, K-5," (a follow-up report to the 1996 survey, "Nutrition Education in U.S. Public Schools, K-12"), examining the nutrition education activities of a nationwide sample of 1400 elementary school teachers. Data on the placement of nutrition education in the curriculum, available resources, working with food service staff, and training is presented.
