Enhancement of L-DOPA production by elicitors in Stizolobium hassjoo cell culture
2000
The enhancement of L-DOPA (2,3-dihydroxyphenylalanine) production by some elicitors in Stizolobium hassjoo cell culture was studied. Elicitation with chitin, pectic acid, and myoinositol in the appropriate concentrations and elicitation times doubled the L-DOPA content in S. hassjoo cells. Combined dosage of EDTA and Cu2+ acted synergistically to elicit L-DOPA accumulation by 6.6 fold compared to unelicited runs. L-DOPA content in cells was not enhanced by chitosan. The experimental results are explained by the in vivo metabolic reactions of L-DOPA.
