Shenkin, A. | Steele, Lorna W.
Quantitative methods of assessment of nutritional status have developed following recognition of the value of nutritional therapies. Such assessment is of considerable value in recognizing malnutrition in hospitals and in adjusting dietary regimens. Components of clinical and laboratory assessment of nutritional status are pinpointed. Assessment of the adequacy of protein energy intake and nitrogen adequacy become relevant when a patient has been put on a nutritional regimen. A protocol for nutritional assessment is recommended.
