The Leslie Ellsworth Card Papers contain correspondence, reports, publications, photographs, and miscellaneous papers relating to poultry industry and research in the United States from. Included in the correspondence is information documenting early egg laying contests (1919-1925); a comprehensive list, by state, of poultry farmers in the U.S. (1925); and documents relating to the James E. Rice testimonial dinner held in Ithaca, New York (1934) honoring a leader in the poultry industry. The collection also contains official publications, notes, and programs of the annual meetings of the Poultry Science Association (1921-1937), including black and white photographic prints of attendees (1921-1922); information published by the War Food Administration and the Office of Price Administration concerning the regulation of poultry (1943-1948); and constitutions and bylaws of the International Association of Poultry Instructors and Investigators (1925-1927). In addition there are black and white prints (with negatives) of poultry hatcheries in Sasketchewan and Ohio (1920); a black and white print of a poultry plant in Pullman, Washington; two black and white prints of hatcheries in New Hampshire; and brochures of agricultural colleges (Kansas State, Oregon State, and Cornell) which contain early photographs of campuses and campus buildings.
