The field research was carried out in the years 1997-2000 in farm Bezek near Chełm, which is a part of Agricultural University in Lublin. The experimental field was situated on light and sandy clay soil. The phosphorus content in the soil was high, medium for potassium, low for magnesium. Humus contents was 1.2%. The purpose of this work was to determine the influence of conventional and ploughless tillage system on light soil in crop rotation: potato - spring barley - winter rye upon the number of weeds, species composition and dry matter of weeds - before closing rows and before tubers harvest - in two differentiated fertilization and plant protection levels in a conopy of potato. The number of dicotyledonous weeds was higher on the treatment with ploughless soil cultivation before potato tubers harvest in comparison with conventional tillage. Intensive fertilization and plant protection level decreases weed infestation and dry matter of weeds before closing rows and before potato tubers harvest in comparison with the basic one. Conventional system of soil cultivation decreases the number the following species of weeds before closing of the rows and before tubers harvest in a conopy of potato: Chenopodium album and Amaranthus retroflexus. Intensive chemicalization decreases Echinochloa crus-galli, Chenopodium album, Geranium pusillum.
