Teaching innovations in agricultural economics: an economic approach.
1990
Dahlgran R.A.
An economic learning model, with time inputs of instructional preparation, classroom contact, and student preparation under both innovative and traditional teaching methods, is developed and used to evaluate teaching innovations in agricultural economics. The model's implications for evaluating teaching innovations are developed and tested. The conclusions are as follows: a comparison of test scores for experimental and control groups to evaluate teaching innovations ignores the efficiency impacts of "labor-saving" innovations; students can provide useful data for evaluating teaching innovations; and economic cost-benefit concepts should guide conclusions about the effectiveness of innovations.

Advanced agricultural machinery, selfpropelled, towed or carried, used in a more or less intensive way, can be met on public roads. Concerning safety aspects, this fact, especially when agricultural transport is in question, generates problems connected with suitability of those vehicles for public transport. Investigations, with obtained results that were directed to define the problems mentioned, show that in the total number of observed agricultural machinery, a considerably small number (30%) completely satisfy all of the traffic regulations and technical standards that are dealing with traffic safety problemes. Analyses of traffic and technical regulations used by some of the developed foreign countries clearly suggest that specific traffic regulations dealing with agricultural machinery have to be established in our country.
