Several instrumental analytical methods were used to assess levels of arsenic (As) and iodine (I) in kelp tablets and capsules used as iodine supplements for humans in England. Considerable variability was found in As and I levels between samples; however, the results indicated that a high intake of As from such supplements is unlikely. In contrast, the results indicated that very high levels of I intake are possible.(wz)
