In the present study, changes in biochemical constituents and microbial population of senescent leaves of Rhizophora mucronata Lamk, during different stages of degradation were investigated. During the first 10 days of degradation, the carbon content decreased from 48.8 to 32.1% while the nitrogen content increased from 3.5 to 11.3%.
