The article provides results of studying the output percentage of green stem cuttings of seven varieties of Highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) subject to the dates of cutting preparation, type of shoot and its metamerism in agroecological conditions of the Rightbank Forest Steppe of Ukraine. It is found that green stem cuttings of Highbush blueberry varieties under review display low regenerative ability and are characterized with medium rooting ability. The optimal procuring and planting for rooting dates for the shoots fall within the stage of their intensive growth, which lasts from the first decade of June till the second decade of July. The level of regenerative capacity for the cuttings is determined by the type of cutting and its metamerism. Basal three-node cuttings have displayed essentially improved rooting ability as compared to the apical and medial cuttings.

The article highlights key issues of the development of collection of varieties displaying example characteristics of sorghum bicolor and rye. It displays their applicability and value. In order to develop the varietal collections of rye and sorghum bicolor as a methodical tool of varietal examination on distinctness, uniformity and stability, a scrutiny has been given to the morphologic description, morphologic description of plant varieties systematization, as well as field examinations on the facilities of the Poltava and Zhitomir state centers for variety testing. The work undertaken has resulted into the establishment of common knowledge rye, sorghum bicolor varieties collections encompassing 330 and 30 varieties, respectively. A morphologic analyzes of common knowledge varieties enabled to single varieties displaying example characters out of the majority of grades of identification characteristics expression. In particular, for sorghum bicolor of 199 grades as set by the Text Guidelines, varieties with example characteristics were selected for 135 grades by 40 identification characters, while in rye for 81grades out of 99 grades existing by 19 identification characteristics. For each crop Lists of varieties displaying example characters were created, with example referencing to characteristic number and state of its expression indicated, namely of 16 sorghum bicolor varieties and 18 varieties of the rye. The common knowledge variety collections established could be considered as a tool for identifying local differences, i.e. in the scale of Ukraine partially embracing CIS and Europe.

The article highlights potential features for the varieties of vegetable bean and actual losses of yield subject to the total amount of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) received over the vegetation period in the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. It is established that the potential of the vegetable bean yield in Ukraine depends on PAR received over the vegetation period. All the varieties had their yield upon receiving PAR higher by 0,26-0,41 t / ha compared to that of control. Potential yield of vegetable bean varieties when PAR is used by 2% amounted to 57.25–59.30 t / ha, which was 2.2–3.6 times more than their actual yield. The smallest actual yield loss compared to that potential was inherent in the varieties of Bartoli and Windsor (2.2–2.3 times). The actual yield losses for Karadag and Karestyno varieties were the highest, namely 3.6 times higher compared to the potential prospect.

The article features summary of studying the resistance of rasberry promising varieties to main diseases (Didymella applanata Sacc., Gloeosporium venetum Speg. і Septoria rubi Sacc.) of stem expression type under the conditions of the Ukraine’s Northern Forest-Steppe. 8 summer rippeing varirties (‛Gusar’, ‛Kryepysh’, ‛Novokytaivs’ka’ (control), ‛Perseya’, ‛Saya’, ‛Tarusa’, ‛Phenomen’) were asessed, as well as the same number of that remontant (‛Babye lyeto 2’, ‛Heracles’, ‛Zolotyye kupola’, ‛Lyulin’, ‛Nyedosyagayemaya’, ‛Osinnya’ (control), ‛Osinny zorepad’, ‛Polana’). Weather conditions of the 2009-2011 vegetation periods were described. Favorable conditions were determined for the above raspberry diseases development. The studied varieties were divided into groups of resistance to the studied diseases. The resistance of the overwhelming majority of varieties was average to above average. The ‛Patricia’ and ‛Novokytaivs’ka’ (control) displayed low resistance against Dydimella and septoria spot, respectively. The varieties of ‛Kryepysh’, ‛Saya’, ‛Tarusa’, ‛Polana’, ‛Niedosyagayemaya’ and ‛Osinnya’ (control) have been found to display a complex resistance to Dydimella, anthracnose and septoria spot under conditions of the region researched.

208 potato varieties of domestic and foreign breeding have been examined on Ustymivska examination station of V. Yur’eva plant production Institute UAAS to determine their response during planting material use. By experiment research results was established different variety productivity depending on the origin of plant material and growing in different soil and climatic conditions, applying the special term »zone change growing plant material effect”. As a result of the three-year productivity of different reproduction locations the same varieties potato planting material assessment was founded that in most cases, superiority in performance were varieties that were grown from imported seeds. Experimental studies proved the impact on the productivity expression of physiological aging of the tubers used for planting.

The article highlights the results of studying the soft winter wheat response to the duration of enforced winter dormancy and the time of vegetation recommencing, their impact on growth, development and the survival of the crops. It is found that the impact of those factors in the conditions of central Forest-Steppe of Ukraine is essential, which is to be taken into consideration when scheduling the measures of spring and summer care over the cultivated crops, in particular, where the spring extra nutrition takes place, pesticides and growth regulators are applied, the spaced planting resowing or partial resowing issues are to be settled down. The ecological effect of spring vegetation recommencing dates does not expose annually, therefore it is not always possible to predict the plant development type, but it is possible, nevertheless, to influence the processes of growth, development and survival of plants throughout spring-summer period and the development of their production capacity by means of introducing the intense technologies, optimization of mineral nutrition and the use of plant growth regulators, protection from rogues, diseases, pests.

Influence of varietal characteristics and growth factors on the quality of Natsional’na and Polis’ka 90 winter wheat varieties was studded. Grain of Polis’ka 90 variety was distinguished by considerable variability of grades, however, the grain of Natsional’na variety was exposed to greater number of growth factors. Grain unit index influenced the grain quality grade of Natsional’na 90 determination, gluten quality and protein and fiber content indices influenced that of Polis’ka 90. It was established that the grain of Polis’ka variety in most of the cases had higher grades of quality than Natsional’na variety. The highest grades of quality were registered for the seed harvested after perennial grasses, namely 2d and 3d grades of Natsional’na variety and the 1t and the 2d for Polis’ka 90 variety. Greater grades of quality were registered for the seed grown according to intensive and ecological farming systems (generally, grades 1 to 3), while the lower grades were inherent to biological system (generally, grades 3 to 5).

На опре еление класса качества зерна сорта Национальная повлиял показатель натуры, сорта Полесская 90 – показатели качества клейковины и содержания белка и клейковины. Выяснено, что зерно сорта Полесская 90 по большинству вариантов мало высшие классы качества, чем сорта Национальная. Высокие классы качества отмечали у зерна, выращенного после многолетних трав: у сорта Национальная – 2–3-й и сорта Полесская 90 – 1–2-й классы. Установлены наивысшие классы качества в зерна, выращенного за интенсивной и экологической систем земледелия (в основном 1–2–3-й классы) и низшие за биологической системы (в основном 3–4–5-й классы). | Вивчено вплив сортових особливостей і факторів вирощування на показники якості зерна пшениці озимої сортів Національна та Поліська 90. Встановлено, що зерно сорту Поліська 90 характеризувалося значною варіабельністю по класності, але більшому впливу факторів вирощування піддавалося зерно сорту Національна. На визначення класу якості зерна сорту Національна вплинув показник натури, сорту Поліська 90 – показники якості клейковини та вмісту білка й клейковини. З’ясовано, що зерно сорту Поліська 90 за більшості варіантів мало вищі класи якості чим сорту Національна. Найвищі класи якості відмічали в зерна, вирощеного після багаторічних трав: у сорту Національна – 2–3-й та сорту Поліська 90 – 1–2-й класи. Наведено результати досліджень сприйнятливості колекційних зразків цибулі ріпчастої різного еколого-географічного походження до збудника пероноспорозу (Peronospora destructor Berk). Встановлено, що сорти та гібриди цибулі ріпчастої першого та другого року життя уражуються пероноспорозом. Ступінь розвитку хвороби залежав від інфекційного навантаження, вологості та температури повітря. Дослідження показали, що в середньому за три роки у колекційному розсаднику цибулі першого року життя поширення хвороби припадало на кінець вегетації залежно від зразка і становило 12,7–79,0%, а її розвиток сягав 8,0–61,7%. На насінниках (фаза зав’язування насіння) пероноспороз поширювався у межах 32,7–95,7%, а його розвиток на природно-провокаційному фоні становив 25,7–88,3%. Серед великої кількості вивчених зразків імунних проти хвороби не виявлено. Виділено форми, яким властива відносна польова стійкість проти хвороби, і які будуть використані в селекційних програмах створення нових сортів і гібридів.

The article deals with performed investigation results of collection samples onions susceptibility of different eco- geographical origin to false mildew agent Peronospora destructor Berk. It is proved that the studied onion varieties and hybrids of first and second year of life are affected by false mildew annually, but with varying degrees of the disease development, depending on the infectious load, humidity and air temperature. Being carried on, investigations have shown that the disease spreading during three years in seed- plot of first year onions at the end of the vegetation season , according to the sample made 12,7–79,0 and its development – 8,0–61,7 %. False mildew has been spreading within 32,7–95,7 % and its development on natural provocative background made 25,7–88,3 % in mature growth phase of the seeds. Among the large number of studied samples, immune stable to the disease have not been identified. Chosen forms, having a relative field resistance to disease will be used in breeding programs for creating new varieties and hybrids. | Приведены результаты исследований восприимчивости коллекционных образцов лука репчатого разного эколого-географического происхождения к возбудителю пероноспороза Peronospora destructor Berk. Установлено, что образцы лука репчатого первого и второго года поражаются пероноспорозом ежегодно, но с разной степенью развития болезни, в зависимости от инфекционной нагрузки, влажности и температуры воздуха. Проведенные исследования показали, что в среднем, за три года, в коллекционном рассаднике лука первого года распространение болезни в конце вегетации составляло 12,7–79,0, а ее развитие – 8,0–61,7%, в зависимости от образца. На семенниках в фазу завязывания семян пероноспороз распространялся в пределах 32,7, а его развитие на естественно-провокационном фоне составило 25,7–8,3%. Среди большого количества изученных сортов и гибридов, иммунных к болезни не обнаружено. The article provides research results of the correlation analysis on Savoy Cabbage and Red Cabbage varieties and hybrids as recommended for cultivation in steppe of Ukraine, looking for increased production and diversification of vegetable crops, improvement of their quality. Direct and inverse correlations of quantitative features have been completed. The best standards are selected for Savoy Cabbage: Dafni F1 in early-ripening hybrid, Chifteyn Savoy variety in middle-ripening group, Vertyu 1340 in middle-late group, and there is Saga F1 RS hybrid late-ripening group. There is strong cross-correlation dependence registered for Red Cabbage was in Olena variety among a group middle-ripening group, Gako 741 variety in middle-ripening group, Kalibos, Dauerrot, in the group of middle-late varieties, and Milana, Langendeyker, Langendeyker red, Granat, Pozdnyaya Krasavisa, Maxilla and Autoro F1 and Fuego hybrids of F1 in late-ripening group.

Проанализированы прямые и обратные корреляции между количественными признаками. Выделены лучшие образцы у капусты савойской: в раннеспелой группе гибрид Dafni F1, в среднеспелой группе сорт Чифтейн савой, в среднеспелой группе сорт Вертю 1340, в позднеспелой группе гибрид Saga F1 RS. У капусты краснокочанной сильная корреляционная зависимость была в группе среднеспелой у сорта Олена, в группе среднеспелой сортов – Гако 741, Калибос, Дауеррот, в группе позднеспелых сортов – Милана, Лангендейкер, Лангендейкер ред, Гранат, Поздняя красавица, Максилла и у гибридов Ауторо F1 и Фуего F1. | Представлені результати досліджень кореляційного аналізу у капусти савойської та червоноголової сортів і гібридів, пропонованих для вирощування в умовах Лісостепу України, перспективних для збільшення виробництва та розширення асортименту овочевих культур, поліпшення їх якості. Проаналізовано прямі та обернені кореляції між кількісними ознаками. Виділено кращі зразки у капусти савойської: у ранньостиглій групі гібрид Dafni F1, у середньостиглій групі сорт Чіфтейн савой, у групі середньопізніх сортів Вертю 1340, у групі пізньо стиглих гібрид Saga F1 RS. У капусти червоноголової міцна кореляційна залежність була у групі середньостиглих сорту Олена, у групі середньопізніх сортів Гако 741, Калібос, Дауеррот, у групі пізньостиглих сортів Мілана, Лангендейкер, Лангендейкер ред, Гранат, Поздняя красавіца, Максілла та у гібридів Ауторо F1 та Фуєго F1.

In the article the authors present the results of the study biometric and qualitative characteristics of berries highbush blueberry varieties (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) in a specific soil and climatic conditions Forest-steppe of Ukraine (Kiev). Investigations were carried out on 11 varieties of American highbush blueberry. Phenological observations, biometric surveys, tasting score and biochemical analysis of the berries have been conducted during the growing season. By results of researches the group of early-ripening varieties includes Bluestar, Earliblue, Patriot, the middle-ripening – Jonne, Atlantis, Bluegold, Bluecrop, Chyk and late-ripening varieties – Amanda, Darrow, Toro. Duration of collecting period of ripe berries was lower (16 days) in varieties Bluestar, Earliblue, Jonne and Darrow. Berries were large sizes in the varieties of Darrow, Amanda, Jonne, in other varieties berries were medium size. By tasting score the berry of varieties Toro, Earliblue, Jonne and Darrow were the best. For biochemical parameters the better varieties were Amanda, Jonne and Earliblue.

В течение вегетационного периода проведены фенологические наблюдения, биометрические учеты, дегустационная оценка и биохимический анализ ягод изучаемых сортов. По результатам исследований в группу раннеспелых сортов отнесены Блустар, Джонни, Эрлиблу, Патриот; к среднеспелым – Чик, Атлантис, Блюголд, Блюкроп и позднеспелым – Аманда, Дароу, Торро. Продолжительность периода сбора спелых ягод короче 16–17 дней у сортов Блустар, Эрлиблу, Джонни и Дарроу. Ягоды большого размера имели сорты Дароу, Аманда, Джонни; другие сорта – среднего размера. По общей дегустационной оценке лучшими оказались ягоды сортов Торро, Эрлиблу, Джонни и Дароу. Биохимические показатели ягод лучше у сортов Аманда, Джонни и Эрлиблу. | У статті представлено результати вивчення біометричних та якісних показників ягід 11 сортів чорниці щиткової (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) американської селекції за ґрунтово-кліматичних умов правобережної підзони Західного Лісостепу України (м. Київ). Упродовж вегетаційного періоду проведено фенологічні спостереження, біометричні обліки, дегустаційна оцінка та біохімічний аналіз ягід сортів чорниці щиткової. За результатами досліджень до групи ранньостиглих сортів занесено Блустар, Джонні, Ерліблу, Патріот; до середньостиглих – Атлантіс, Блюголд, Блюкроп, Чік, пізньостиглих – Аманда, Дарроу, Торро. Тривалість періоду збору стиглих ягід менша у сортів Блустар, Ерліблу, Джонні та Дарроу і становить 16–17 днів. Ягоди великого розміру мають сорти Дарроу, Аманда, Джонні; інші сорти – ягоди середнього розміру. За загальною дегустаційною оцінкою кращими є ягоди сортів Торро, Ерліблу, Джонні та Дарроу, високі біохімічні показники у сортів Аманда, Джонні та Ерліблу.
