A scientific basis for the longevity of Japanese in relation to diet and nutrition.
1992
Kobayashi S.
According to governmental health statistics based on a strict census registration system, the average life span of Japanese is at present the longest among industrialized countries. Although all the factors involved in longevity are not yet known, available evidence suggests that, besides genetic predispositions, life-style factors play a significant role, among which dietary habits are a major element. International comparative studies on some nutrition-related diseases support this hypothesis.
