Malnutrition and the undernourished curiosity
1976
Levitsky, David A.
Extract: The effects of malnutrition on behavior could be reversed or at least minimized by the introduction of "favorable" stimulation in the individual's environment during upbringing. Learning retardation--once attributed to "brain damage"--can be overcome, not by a change in diet or by medical effects, but by enriching the living environment of the malnourished. These outcomes may be described in terms of the concept of "functional isolation."
