Numerous cases of adverse effects of dermatological drugs and other substances for topical application have suggested the importance of evaluation of their possible systemic toxicity, dermal toxicity and local irritative effect. In studies of systemic and local toxicity of Lotagen, medical disinfectant, we determined that a single oral LD50 dose of Lotagen was 2,187.5 mg/kg BW. Studies of local cutaneous toxicity have shown that not a single studied form of Lotagen induces any local reaction on the rabbit skin. Study of irritative effect on the rabbit eye have shown that 36 and 20 Lotagen solutions induce florid irreversible reaction, while the application of 4 Lotagen solution into the rabbit eye does not provoke any local reaction.
