Based on hybrid and inbreed population of radish cv. Mokhovskiy using CMS-ogura nine lines with 100% of male sterility and fertile maintainers were selected. Using the multiplex PCR, the presence of cytoplasm of Ogura type in ms-lines and its absence in mf-lines were confirmed.

Results of the study of possibility of cultivation of cauliflower and broccoli in the context of vertical zonality of Dagestan are presented. Physiological characteristics, agriculture, and cultivation of early maturing varieties of cauliflower and broccoli during spring, summer, and autumn in condition of plain, piedmont, and mountain regions of Dagestan were studied. The high quality product of these crops was obtained in condition of Dagestan in the altitude of 1510 m above sea level.

A periodic phytopathology field monitoring was conducted on 35 introduced common bean (Phaseolus) accessions at Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute in 2014. The epiphytotic disease black root rot on the bean crops (over 75 % reduction of the stand) was recorded for the first time for the area of Bulgaria. The causal agent isolated from the plant tissue was identified as the fungus Thielaviopsis basicola (Berkeley) Ferraris. A strong relationship between disease severity variation and environmental and soil conditions was established. Black root rot was most severe when cool and wet weather occurred from seedling time to about three weeks after planting, combined with increased soil compaction. Field resistance was recorded in Bulgarian var. “Plovdivski zult”, var. “Starozagorski tzer” and line № 564 (3,66%, 5.33% and 6,50 % dumping-off of bean seedlings, respectively). Bean accession introduced from dry climate areas were highly susceptible to black root rot pathogen (over 76.0 % dumping-off of bean seedlings). Indirect relationship was found between bean tolerance to Th. basicola and presence of the anthocyanin in the hypocotyl and seed coat color. Install the average negative correlation between seed color signs (and hypocotyl) and the resistance of plants to Th. basicola. Samples with resistance to black root rot belong to the group with beige, red, brown or black color of seeds. The presence of phenolic compounds (anthocyanins) in the seed coat and hypocotyls beans can serve as an indirect indication of the selection of resistant to black rot breeding materials.

There are more than 1200 vegetable crops belonging to 78 families, 600 of which are cultivated, the others are used as a wild species. At the most countries about 30-35 vegetable crops are produced industrially, while in Russia only 10-15 vegetable crops have commercial application. The global trend in vegetable growing is an increasing of overall production of vegetables. Since 1993 up to 2013, the vegetableproduction has increased from 516,98 million tons up to 1,136 billion tons, cultivated area has increased up to 70%, and average yield has increased up to 29%. Most of vegetables are cultivated in the open field, and only 23% is the vegetable growing in the protected ground. In 2013, there are 14,689 million tons of vegetables produced in Russia.

The content of macro- (C, N, P, S) and micro-elements, as well as some metals was analyzed in fruits, leaves, stems, and roots of vigna, kiwano, bitter melon, and wax gourd growing in the condition of unheated polyethylene-covered greenhouse in Novosibirsk (Russia). The revealed low concentration of sulfur and big atomic ratio of nitrogen to sulfur in plant phytomass is the result of insufficient macro-elements supply from fertilizers and peatsubstrates. The kiwano fruits are characterized by high concentration of K , Ca, Mg , Zn, Fe, Cu, and Ni and therefore is worth introducing this culture in Russia.

The analysis of changing of amount of total proteins and storage proteins of green bean was done. The influence of the contrast natural conditions on the quality of green bean seeds was revealed. The obtained data can be used for seed production of green bean.
