Application of the herbicide at rates up to 2 kg per ha decreased leaf hardness and increased nitrogen content. The results indicate that low levels of herbicide application can favour attack by herbivores such as the biocontrol agents Sameodes albiguttalis and Neochetina spp.

Uno de los aspectos que ha alcanzado mayor interés en el campo de la Acuicultura en regiones tropicales, es el cultivo de crustáceos. Su importancia radica en el valor proteínico de su carne y las altas cotizaciones que logra en el mercado mundial. El objetivo general de la investigación es utilizar la Ostra (Crassostrea rhizophorae), como alimento suplementario en la formulación de dietas para el levante de larvas de camarón de agua dulce M. Rosenbergiies, una especie nativa de las zonas tropicales y subtropicales de la región Indopacifica, Islas Filipinas, Hawaii, Thailandia, etc. De ahí que Malasia sea la pionera en la obtención de larvas de camarón en laboratorio de la especie M. Rosenbergii, a través de Ling en 1969. Pocos años después en Hawaii, Fujimura (1972), publica su trabajo sobre técnicas adecuadas para la crianza masiva de larvas de esta especie, lo que significó el preludio para el cultivo comercial de éste camarón
